No grilling, no smoke 😯 The secret lies in the magic of Laksa Paste! This versatile ingredient will form the base of your otah with its rich and aromatic flavours.
Laksa paste is a blend of spices and herbs commonly used in Southeast Asian cuisine, particularly in dishes like Laksa gravy. It typically contains ingredients such as lemongrass, galangal, chili, shrimp paste, and various spices.
To make otah using laksa paste, simply mix the paste with fish fillet and additional ingredients like egg, rice flour, corn flour and even belachan. Wrap the mixture in banana leaves and bake it! The result is a savory and aromatic otah that will give you a delightful surprise.
Ingredients:
- 1 packet of Laksa Paste with Coconut Milk
- 1 Egg
- 500g White Fish Fillet
- 1 tbsp Corn Flour
- 1 tbsp Rice Flour
- 8g Dry Roasted Belachan (Optional)
Materials:
- Banana Leaves (blanched in hot water to soften for folding)
- Toothpicks
Instructions:
1. In a blender, blend all ingredients until smooth.

3. Bake in a preheated oven or air fryer at 200°C for 20 mins (10 mins for each side)
