Tasty Treat with Tefal

For all you beef lovers out there, enjoy this easy-to-prepare Beef Rendang dish, best cooked with the TEFAL Home Chef Smart Multicooker! Yum yum!

Beef Rendang
For 4 Persons
Ingredients

  • 750g Beef Rib Fingers (cut into 1 x 1 inch cubes)
  • 1 cup Chopped Yellow Onion
  • 1 tbsp Minced Ginger
  • 1 tbsp Minced Garlic
  • 1 Small Chilli (or to preference)
  • 1 tbsp Vegetable Oil
  • 30g Rendang Curry Paste
  • ½ cup Water
  • 1 cup Full-fat Coconut Milk
  • 2 tbsp Shredded Coconut
 

Step 1
Select the “Sauté/Sear” function and set at 20 minutes. Add in the cooking oil.

Step 2
When the oil is hot, add in garlic, ginger, onion and chilli, and stir fry.

Step 3
Next, add the rendang paste and keep stirring. Cook for 3 minutes.

Step 4
Add the beef and cook for another 4–5 minutes.

Step 5
Add ½ cup of water and deglaze the cooking pot.

Step 6
Add the coconut milk and mix well.

Step 7
Close the lid and press and hold on the cancel button to cancel the “Sauté/Sear” function.

Step 8
Press the Pressure Cooker button and select the “Beef/Lamb” function and set the time to 30 minutes. Lock the lid and press the start button.

Step 9
When the program is done, open the lid and check if the sauce is at the correct consistency. If you would like to thicken the sauce, select the “Sauce Thickening” function and allow the liquid to evaporate in 5-minute intervals with the lid open until the rendang has reached the desired consistency. (Note: The sauce thickens as it cools.)

Step 10
Garnish with the shredded coconut and serve hot over steamed rice!
