Chinese Pear and Snow Fungus Dessert
- 1 piece (35g) Dried Snow Fungus
- 1 fresh Chinese pear (425g)
- 1.4L Water
- 2 Sugared Flattened Tangerines (50g), rinsed
- 1 Honey Date (25g)
- 2 pieces Dried Tangerine Peel (0.5g)
- 1 tbsp Nan Bei Xing (Chinese Apricot Kernels, 10g)
- 1 tbsp Chuan Bei (Fritillaria)
- 3 large Red Dates (33g), halved and pits removed
- 20g Honey Rock Sugar (optional)
Soak the snow fungus, fully immersed in the water, for at least 30 minutes. For a softer texture when cooked, soak it overnight. Use a pair of scissors to remove the hard stem ends.
Rinse the snow fungus and drain away the excess water. Set aside.
Peel the Chinese pear, remove the seeds, slice into eight sections and set aside.
Add water to the inner pot of your thermal cooker. Then, add the Chinese pear.
Add the sugared flattened tangerines, honey date, dried tangerine peel, nan bei xing and chuan bei.
Add the red dates and snow fungus.
Bring to a boil and cook for about 20 minutes.
Transfer into the outer pot of your thermal cooker and leave it to self-cook for at least 1 hour.
According to personal preference, you may add honey rock sugar for sweet soup.
Your dessert is ready to serve! If you’d like to serve it later, bring to boil again before serving hot.
